Quakers know that something — God, the Light, the Spirit, whatever you call it — is available to everyone, within ourselves, and offers us guidance when we’re able to accept it.
— Rhiannon Grant, Hearing the Light.
Listen to the light — it knows.
In Quaker meetings, those who gather, gather to listen to the light.
Quaker life is founded on simplicity, truth, equality, and peace.
If only we could follow such simple rules of the heart ourselves, regardless of our faith or beliefs. We all have so much to learn from each other, from the light, the trees, the wind, moon and stars.
Don’t doubt this for a moment. We will learn more in a timeless few minutes alone under a tree, or the stars, or listening to the light, than we will learn in a lifetime of academic study, of reading books, and attending courses and lectures.
Stop for a minute, or five, ten, or fifteen, and be still. In this sacred stillness, listen.
