A prayer.
Pray for the grace to accept things as they are, and to be at peace with all things, as they are, here and now.
Amen.
— Willow.
Earlier this year, I shared the post on gratitude, here in Silentium.
Willow, my wife for over 40 years now, is a subscriber to Silentium — she often finds clarity and blessings in what I share here.
Two or three weeks after I shared the post below, Gratitude for what is, she told me that she had been deeply touched by this particular post, and the clarity it brought her in how to pray. Prayer is something she has struggled to understand, or to feel connected to for many years, perhaps due to the approach to faith of her upbringing. She now lives and find her faith at the intersection of Buddhism and nondual teachings.
But this day, reading my post on gratitude, the door opened a crack, and a prayer arose spontaneously. Those words she saved as a note on her phone are the opening quote of today’s post.
More recently again, she has asked if I would create a print to hang on the wall, as a reminder of this prayer. I am working on that this week.
Sometimes, we can look so hard, for so long, seeking answers, looking for the wisdom hidden in plain sight, that we miss it — over and over again.
Prayer not only can be found in the simplest things, it most often is found in the most unexpected places — the most available ones.
When we wash our eyes clean of the idea of what something should look like, sound like, feel like, and we simply see what is present, here and now, we find our prayer.
Not only do we find it — we find it answered.
By what is, here and now.

When I don’t have the opportunity to practice silent contemplation, I automatically feel that something is missing, that I need something and can’t find it - because the mind won’t get me there. Thanks for this post. I can stop looking and just BE.
Willow and Andō that is so touching and hopeful. Thank you for your combined share.
