Silence, inquiry and intuition, that's the essence of effective spiritual practice. Inquiry is a spirit of curiosity. Don't look for someone else's answer.
— Adyashanti, from The Wide Expanse of Enlightenment (talk, 2021)
Recently I was led to these words of Adyashanti through a conversation with friends.
That spirit of curiosity burns like a flame in my heart, since as far back as I can remember. That spirit of curiosity is the flame that lights the way as we first discover the spiritual path.
But ultimately, as Shunryū Suzuki Rōshi once indicated, it must burn completely, until not even a trace of it is left.
Come, let us fuel the fire of this curiosity — we have work to do.
